Run San Ramon - July 4, 2010 - Larry Feigenbaum AG1

Joined the masses at the very popular July 4th run sponsored by the City of San Ramon. Since the race started only 1 mile from where I lived, I enjoyed sleeping in! Knew the course well, since I have done the race many times. Since I still do not have a large enough mileage base, I did not have high expectations that I could do much better than my 21:37 5k two weeks earlier in San Ramon. First mile of 6;52 felt ok. 5k race converged with the 10 k race, which had started earlier, and it became a race of running around the 10k runners/walkers. Mile 2 was about 7:02. Was able to kick mile 3 back below 7:00 to 6:57. Finishing time of 21:43 was 7 seconds slower than Pleasanton, but still good for an AG1 in the 60-64 age group. Thanks to Cytomax for the FastTwitch and Avia for the great Avia Stoltz shoes. These ultra-light trail shoes are great on the road and the trails.

Pleasanton Spirit Run - June 20, 2010 - Larry Feigenbaum AG1

Joined a large contingent of Forward Motion Race Club members at the traditional Father's Day run in Pleasanton, CA. Sipped my bottle of Cytomax FastTwitch on my drive to the race. Warmed up with the assembled masses and toed the line for 5k. Felt relatively good with first mile of 6:42. Hit the gravel path where the race converges with the 10k race race and started running with teammate Kate Samuelson. Slowed slightly to 6:56. Kicked in the last mile mile in 7:01. Fairly happy with the consistency over the miles, especially since my weekly mileage has not exceeded 20 miles, as I ramp back up from my May hamstring injury. Finished in 21:37, AG1.

Hook 'N Ladder 5k --Wente Vineyards - Larry Feigenbaum AG1

After pulling a hamstring in April at two duathlons, including the US National Duathlon on April 24th, I was forced to rest during most of May. I resumed training in late May Not sure what my level of fitness would be, I signed up for the June 6th Hook ''N Ladder 5k at Wente Vineyards in Livermore. Since there were several of my Forward Motion team members there, I was able to position myself, during the run, in a position where I would would maintain a "reasonable" pace. Ram teh first mile in 6:53, a bit too quick for the my level of fitness. Slowed to 7:22 in the second mile, and finished a bit stronger in 7:13. Fueled by my Cytomax FastTwitch , I was very pleased to garner an AG1 in 20:38 (course was about .2 miles short.)
